First head was appointed heating engineer known then, boiler technology specialist Professor Alexei Y. Stupin, who headed the department until 1928.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Department received its present name in 1985.<\/p>\n<p class=\"clearfloat\">At different times the department was headed by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"clearfloat\">prof. Tolubinskyy<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since 1995 head of the department is doctor of technical sciences, professor, Honored Worker of Science of Ukraine\u00a0<a title=\"Yevgen Pysmennyy\" href=\"http:\/\/aesiitf.kpi.ua\/?page_id=842\">Yevgen Pysmennyy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"hps\">Since the establishment,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"hps\">Department<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">passed<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a difficult way<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of development,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"hps\">which<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">was closely associated<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">with the history of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the NTUU &#8220;KPI&#8221;,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the achievements of science<\/span><span class=\"\">, technical<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">progress<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the requirements<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of production<\/span>, social and <span class=\"hps\">political events<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in the country and world at all.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">In this way the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">department<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">more than once<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">changed its<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">name and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">let out<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">professionals<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">on the needs of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">manufacturing companies<\/span>, design <span class=\"hps\">agencies,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"hps\">research institutions<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in the field of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">thermal power<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">equipment,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">boiler fabrication<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"hps\">thermal<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Department of the first days of its activities continuously carry out research work and already in 1903 had training and research laboratory based on thermal power station NTUU &#8220;KPI&#8221;, which was equipped with advanced boiler techniques of that time. In 1938, the department joined the faculty of thermal power KPI titled &#8220;Boilers chair&#8221;. In 1957, the department was established the problem laboratory of heat transfer and gas dynamics, which direction of research was determined thermophysical problems of such fields as nuclear energy, space and aviation equipment, electronics, boiler fabrication.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Currently, the Department of NPP and ETPh is a member of the faculty of thermal power engineering NTUU &#8220;KPI&#8221; and continuing it&#8217;s historical tradition, prepares Bachelors, Specialists, Masters and highly qualified (Ph.D.) in three specialties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u201cNuclear power engeneering\u201d<\/strong>, specialty opened in 1985 at the Institute for Nuclear Research, USSR Academy of Sciences and scientific topics of Problem heat and gas dynamics laboratory NTUU &#8220;KPI&#8221; in the field of research heatgidrodynamics\u00a0processes in the active zones of nuclear reactors;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u201cThermophysics\u201d<\/strong>,\u00a0specialty opened in 1964 on the scientific and industrial base of Problem heat and gas dynamics laboratory NTUU &#8220;KPI&#8221; and the Institute of Technical Thermal Physics (Institute of Engineering Thermophysics) USSR;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u201cBoilers and reactors\u201d<\/strong>, specialty of designing boilers existed in the department since its founding until 1985, when boilers\u00a0specialty in NTUU &#8220;KPI&#8221; was replaced by a new specialty &#8220;Nuclear\u00a0power stations and installations&#8221; (from now Department has an appropriate name). Over time, this specialty\u00a0became known as &#8220;Nuclear power engeneering&#8221; .In 1996 boilers specialty at the Department restored and expanded in nuclear reactors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The department is trained in 4 groups each academic year a total of about 400 students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Courses at the Department has developed scientific and industrial base, based on department cooperation with research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU), energy profile design organizations, nuclear and thermal power plants, companies of power engineering, installation and repair of the equipment of thermal power plants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To ensure a permanent connection with base NASU institutes and enterprises outside the &#8220;KPI&#8221; and conducting the educational process on their research and production base the department has branches:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nuclear Research Institute (NRI) and the Institute of Technical Thermal Physics (Institute of Engineering Thermophysics) in NASU in Kyiv;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">the Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SEC NRS) Ukraine, Kyiv;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">nuclear power plants, Rivne NPP, Khmelnitsky NPP, Zaporizhzhya NPP;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">heat engineering plant &#8220;Tekom&#8221;, Monastyrysche Cherkasy region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From boilers &#8211; to nuclear reactor\u00a0(UA) Department of nuclear power plants\u00a0and engineering\u00a0thermal physics (NPP and ITF) was founded in 1903 as a department of the steam boiler in the mechanical department of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
